Can I have candles?
Due to the nature of our ranch and the age of the barn, we have a no open flame policy. However, there are several kinds of battery operated candles and tea lights that will give you the effect of candle light.
Is smoking allowed?
There is no smoking allowed anywhere by or in the barn. We do provide a smoking area however with tables and chairs for your guests.
What parking facilities do you have?
Depending on which wedding location you decide on, we have ample parking for your guests. Guests can park along the fence on the south side of the barn or in the field on the east side of the corrals. Parking signs will be put out on the day of the wedding to direct your guests to the parking areas. We do not allow any parking in the main driveway, by the houses or in front of the barn during the event.
Is there any heat or air conditioning?
The barn was built in the late 1800's and does not have any insulation. It's unique open ceiling also means that it is an extremely hard building to heat or cool. You should consider our event space as being very similar to outside event space.
However, we do have a couple of patio heaters that can be used in the dance hall area and also a gas heater in the bar area. (Please contact us for details if you think you will need to use these.) These heaters will help a little but should not be counted on as heating.
We do not have air conditioners. We find that opening the south doors up in the evening and turning the fans on in the barn normally gets enough air flow going through the barn in the heat of the summer to cool it down. You are welcome to bring in your own large fans or rent air conditioners.
What times can we come in on our rented days?
On decoration day, you may arrive anytime after 8am and we ask that you leave by 10pm. On the wedding day, you can arrive anytime after 8am and the property should be vacated by 12am. On cleanup day, you can be here as early as 7am and the property must be fully vacated by 12pm. Any late departure will incur additional fees.
What services does Hatchet Ranch Events provide?
Hatchet Ranch is providing the space and the tables and chairs for your event. We have a total of 25 round tables (seat 8) and 25 rectangular tables. You will be responsible for set up and tear down of all tables and chairs. For the ceremony area, chairs will stacked at the area for you and you will be responsible for setting up and then returning them to where they were following the event. There will be a representative around during setup and during the event should you have questions or need to borrow ladders etc for decorating.
Do you rent the barn during the winter months?
Do to the fact that the barn does not have a reliable heat source, we only allow weddings during the warmer months of the year. Our wedding season runs from May through early October with the understanding that at either end the weather can be temperamental!
Do I need to hire security?
Hatchet Ranch provides security for each event. However, if you are planning to exceed 200 guests, you will be responsible for the cost of additional security.
Can we bring alcohol?
Yes, you can bring in your own alcohol as long as there are no sales without a license. Many couples have also found it beneficial to hire a bartender or company so that someone is monitoring alcohol use.
Can we bring a camper and stay overnight?
No. We do not offer any overnight accommodations. There is a KOA campground in Colorado City.
What do I need for liability insurance?
Hatchet Ranch Events requires its clients to carry liability insurance. The insurance must have the following:
$2,000,000 Aggregate Liability
$1,000,000 Liability per occurrence
$750,000 Coverage for Damage to Rented Premises
Liquor Liability Coverage
Hatchet Ranch Events named as Additional Insured
